Admission to the TRP-CSA Program is competitive.
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, candidates must participate in a selection process.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university
- A minimum of 24 hours in mathematics or science or demonstrated competency on the TExES content exam through Texas PACT http://www.texes.ets.org/epp/epppact/
- A cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better on the last 60 undergraduate hours
- Admission through the Texas State Graduate College as a degree-seeking master's-level student (fee required)
- Online TRP-CSA application submitted
- Transcripts and three professional references sent to: TRP-CSA, College of Education, ED 2019, Texas State University, 601 University Drive, San Marcos, Texas 78666
- Participation in an on-site selection day (to be scheduled by the TRP-CSA office after the deadline date)
- Criminal History Background Release Form (after the preliminary selection)
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- A certification plan (fee required) developed by the certification officer, Office of Educator Preparation, for candidates who are selected for TRP-CSA after selection
International Admission Requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree from an acceptable accredited institution and a recognized four-year program either abroad or in the United States
- A cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of undergraduate courses before earning a bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 24 hours in mathematics with a 2.5 minimum GPA or a minimum of 24 hours in science with a 2.5 minimum GPA
To apply, please submit the following materials to the Office of the Graduate College:
- The online Graduate College International Application for Admission: https://www.applytexas.org/adappc/gen/c_start.WBX
- $50 application fee ($40 for master’s degree + $10 for teacher certification)
- $50 non-refundable one-time international evaluation fee (check or money order payable to Texas State in U.S. currency).
- Transcripts: Applicant must have a baccalaureate degree from an acceptable accredited institution and a recognized four-year program either abroad or in the United States. We require two official transcripts from every college or university attended: one translated into English and one in the native language. To ensure acceptance of your transcripts, please make sure the University Registrar verifies the transcripts with an official signature and university seals. If your school is affiliated with a larger university, the university registrar of the affiliated university must sign and attest your transcripts with that person's official signature and seal. The official transcripts must be placed in university sealed envelopes, with the university stamp affixed to the envelope and mailed directly to the Office of the Graduate College.
- Diploma: Applicant must submit two official diplomas or degree certificates: one translated into English and one in the native language, showing the type of degree(s) earned and the date of the degree(s), verified by the registrar of the university with the registrar's official signature and seal affixed to the copies. If your school is affiliated to a larger university, the university registrar of the affiliated university must sign and attest your diploma/degree certificate with an official signature and seal. The copies must be placed in the university sealed envelopes, with the university stamp affixed to the envelope and mailed directly to the Office of the Graduate College.
- The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required to apply to the Graduate College if English is not your native language. This applies to international students, permanent residents and US citizens whose native language is not English. You must have an official score on file in the office of the Graduate College before your application is evaluated. Scores must be sent directly to the office of the Graduate College from the Educational Testing Center with at least:
- Paper-Based – 550 minimum
- Internet-Based Test minimums – 78 total score with the 4 minimum section scores of 19/reading, 19/listening, 19/speaking, and 18/writing
- IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 or higher with minimum individual module scores of 6.0
- Financial Support verification if you need an F-1 visa.
